Dir. John Waters. USA 1970, 91 min, Cert 18

John Waters’ delightfully unhinged second feature focuses on a group of misfits led by Lady Divine’s grotesque and glamorous outsider. Upon uncovering her lover’s infidelity, Lady Divine’s quest for revenge entails a string of unholy events that test the limits of social norms. Finding favour with queer audiences and social outcasts, Multiple Maniacs’ subversion of good taste led to Waters being dubbed ‘the pope of trash’.

The film will be introduced by programmer and co-founder of Category H Film Club, Molly Miles. There will be a post-screening discussion where we will explore the film from a neurodiverse perspective.

Unfortunately there will be no Descriptive Subtitles and Audio Description for this screening.

CONTENT WARNING: This film contains extremely violence, gore and sexual violence. If you are someone who has difficulty watching uncomfortable/taboo content, we would advise that this is not the screening for you. We try to programme a diverse range of films at Stims, and we will be screening films with less intense content in the coming months.

Tickets: £4
